Hardcore Troubadours

2 September, 2017
8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Event Category:

The Hard Core Troubadours play country/rock and folk with a healthy dose of blues thrown into the mix. NZ legend Wayne Mason, Hobnail front man Rob Joass and Rob’s long time collaborator and partner in crime Hamish Graham will be playing songs old, new, borrowed and blue. Wayne an Rob are prolific writers with a lifetime of material behind them, and the take turns swapping songs and stories from across their careers.
Wayne Mason is a long time traveller in the NZ music scene, known and loved from his time with Rocking Horse, the Fourmyula, the Warratahs to name but a few. Honoured for having written the song of the millennium ‘Nature’, he is a prolific writer with 16 albums to his name. His most recent Wait there’s more is a warm boogie piano driven album where Wayne mixes his own tunes with the likes of Fats Domino, and he is currently working on a ‘best of’ which will pull together his favourite tunes from the last 50 years. Wayne’s tunes embody the landscape of NZ and are rich with images from his life and journeys on road.
Rob Joass is well known to many music fans throughout New Zealand through his work with Hobnail, The Shot Band, The Hard Core Troubadours and Too Many Chiefs. He writes compulsively, tours incessantly, teaches guitar, produces albums, and can be found behind a mixing desk live and in the studio when time allows. His songs have been covered by artists both in NZ and abroad, and he is a 3 time finalist at the NZ Music Awards. Hobnail have just released their 7th album “Blue Sky Songs”, and Rob is also planning a solo album for 2018.
Hamish Graham is multi-instrumentalist, with a BMus from Victoria University. Hamish’s musical path has flirted with a number of genres. He can play anything and everything, and brings an inimitable style to everything he does.
