Ahoy me hearties! Acclaimed Australian duo Neil Adam and Judy Turner will bring their show “Sing Me A Song” to Fairfield on their tour of New Zealand and Samoa. Audiences will experience the wit and wisdom, the adventures and heartbreaks of swashbuckling Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, author of Kidnapped, Treasure Island, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and much more.

The life of Robert Louis Stevenson continues to fascinate people across the world, and none more so than Neil Adam (vocals/guitar)and Judy Turner (violin/narration) who will perform an evening of beautiful contemporary folk-style music inspired by the poems and words of Robert Louis Stevenson. The music is interspersed with the life-story of Robert Louis Stevenson and extracts from his letters and books along with interesting photographs taken by the Stevenson family. It is a fascinating and relaxed evening’s entertainment with something for both newcomers to Robert Louis Stevenson and established fans.

“The show grew out of my lifelong love of the stories of Louis Stevenson,” says Neil Adam, “and a realization that his poetry really tells the story of his short adventurous life. We’ve set a dozen of these poems to music and present the biographical show with excerpts from his hilarious letters, illustrated throughout by his own photography.”

Adam and Turner have presented the show “Sing Me A Song” all around Australia, and a few years back were invited to bring it to the Scottish International Storytelling festival. Festival Director, Donald Smith, said:
“The musical settings to Stevenson’s lyrics are beautiful. We received nothing but great feedback from our own audiences and from their outreach tour through the libraries in the west of Scotland. Neil and Judy’s performances at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh were a great evening’s entertainment, accomplished musicianship coupled with a genuine affection for the man and his writing.”

Judy & Neil will present this delightful & informative show in the intimacy of the Fairfield Ballroom.
