“The Girl who Climbed a Mountain and Saved the World”

‘The Girl who Climbed a Mountain and Saved the World’ is a new play by Nelson-based playwright, Lisa Allan.
It has been inspired by the stories about mountains and water that were shared with Lisa in 2017, by members of the community. From these gifts, Lisa has created a ‘play for voices.’

The story is told by three narrators who come in and out of character. We meet Kira, a young girl who hears the voices of the Earth; Hannah, a dairy farmer from Riuwaka and Tom, a Kiwi who is on his OE in India. The performance is akin to that of a live radio play, with the beautiful addition of live, original music and elements of physical theatre.

A pair of green gumboots encounter a giant eel, a traveler gives himself to the Ganges and a young girl gazes up at Mount Taranaki… will the mountain move once more? Uplifting, new, NZ theatre.
