Her self-titled album released this July 2020 to critical acclaim and has reached #1 on the Icelandic album charts.\nJoining the Life Lessons Tour in support of Hera is rising kiwi star Emma Dilemma and Ōtautahi based musical artist The Moses sharing songs of love\, life\, learning\, and growing. \nHera spent most of the past couple of decades living on the opposite side of the world in New Zealand\, and has a long musical history\, including: a Gold-selling record\, high-rotation radio play\, and support slots for the likes of Nick Cave\, Joe Cocker\, Amanda Palmer\, and the Dresden Dolls. \nShe has been named ‘Best Female Artist’ at the Icelandic Music Awards\, performed at the famous SXSW festival in Texas\, and the iconic Glastonbury in the UK. SUMMARY:Rennie Pearson. Traditional Celtic Music
DESCRIPTION:Grounded in the Celtic musical traditions\, Rennie Pearson takes the listener on a journey through history\, weaving together tunes and songs and the tales that accompany them to create an intricate and varied show. His engaging stage presence and storytelling opens the door for audiences to connect with the music\, which he plays on the wooden flute\, Irish tin whistles\, guitar\, bodhran and voice. \nRennie grew up in Wellington with Celtic music in his blood. Having heard the traditional music of Ireland and Scotland on his parents CDs as a baby\, he grew up knowing he just had to learn to play like this. He picked up the flute at age 8\, learning by ear in Irish sessions under the guidance of Galway born flute player Pat Higgins. With Irish music as the cornerstone of his knowledge\, he then went on to delve deep into the traditional music of Scotland and maritime Canada\, on the way gaining proficiency in a wide range of different instruments. \nRennie has made a name for himself in the Irish music scene of New Zealand and Australia. He has performed with great traditional musicians such as John Carty\, Catherine MacEvoy\, James Kelly and more. He has taught throughout New Zealand and internationally\, both solo and with a range of other musicians such as Rob Zielinski\, Oscar West and Gillian Boucher. Most recently he taught wooden flute at Ceol Aneas (New Zealand’s Irish Music School)\, accompaniment at ScotStrings Camp (New Zealand Scottish Music School) and traditional music workshops at Auckland and Whare Flat Folk Festivals. In 2021 he toured with Irish dance sensation\, Celitica\, as their flute and bodhran player. He also released an album with fiddler and small-piper\, Oscar West as the kiwi folk duo\, ‘Polytropos’\, in 2020..At the age of 19\, he studied with wooden flute virtuoso Chris Norman on the east coast of Canada\, as a live-in apprentice. Nigel has long been a featured player in New Zealand’s music scene\, particularly in Auckland\, playing 7 string guitars\, banjo\, mandolin\, bass – indeed\, almost anything with strings – with the Nairobi Trio\, Lorina Harding\, Wayne Gillespie\, Whirimako Black\, and many others. \nPeter Elliott (ONZM) … has been integral to the development in the unique creativities of New Zealand theatre\, film\, and television\, as actor\, producer\, presenter\, and advocate for other actors. He trained at the Court Theatre in Christchurch and appeared in more than 60 TV dramas\, over a dozen documentaries\, various films\, and more than 80 plays\, musicals\, and opera throughout the country. He has a passionate interest in NZ history and has been thrilled to be involved with Unsung Heroes over the last few years. \nSonia Wilson… is “a living\, breathing human Womad Festival”. Born and raised in Paris\, France\, UK-educated and now based in Auckland\, the Franco-American singer\, songwriter\, and musician had a dizzying musical apprenticeship. SUMMARY:Leaning Into Spring ( Women's Group )
DESCRIPTION:Come along and have a go at expressing yourself through the creative arts with a small group of women in The Sanctuary at the beautiful historical Fairfield House. The workshop will offer the invitation to explore the creative arts including the visual arts\, nature-based arts and creative writing/poetry with a theme of leaning into Spring.  A safe space will be offered within a morning of spaciousness where the invitation is to connect to the creative arts and with one another. The session will include an opening and a closing to allow time to settle into the space and for reflection at the end. A break will be incorporated into the workshop with the opportunity to sip herbal tea . No artistic or creative writing ability is required and a judgement-free zone will be fostered. He is dedicated to creating music and sound experiences that enhance our spiritual and human relationship with nature.
