SUMMARY:Pangaea New Delhi
DESCRIPTION:This August the international trio PANGAEA will again be touring NZ where they will showcase their blend of Indian and Western music in a series of concerts throughout the South Island and lower North Island. \nIt has been 4 years since the groups last NZ tour was unexpectedly cut short due to Covid19\, forcing the trio to cancel its remaining shows and scramble for the last seats on the last flight out of the country back to India. \nIn the interim the trio has maintained a distant working relationship and there have been reunions in India for tabla player Saptak’s marriage and in 2023 for a successful tour of India. \nThis years NZ tour will be covering some of the ground left aside in the previously abandoned tour\, letting the audiences there finally get the chance to hear the group perform live. \nFor those who are new to the group\, this will be a chance to experience two of India’s top young Hindustani Classical musicians melding their ancient style together with Western Classical\, Folk and modern Singer songwriter traditions. \nConsisting of Saptak Sharma (2019 All India Tabla Comp. winner) on Tabla and percussion\, Mayank Rainer on Bansuri (Flute) and Sitar\, and Mike Hogan (NZ) on Guitar and Vocals\, PANGAEA covers a wide range of styles in their shows. \nFrom Indian Classical through to Irish\, South American\, Bollywood\, Blues\, Folk and more\, the group showcases the diversity of its musicians and follows the ethos of PANGAEA\, a universal musical continent where all genre of sounds can reside. Be ready to be taken away by the stunning speed and dexterity of India’s best and the beautiful form and harmony of the West. \nDoors open 7pm \nMusic from 7:30pm \nTICKETS $25 from Humanitix – Click HERE \nFairfield Bar will be open from 7pm.

SUMMARY:Any Given Moment
DESCRIPTION:About the hosts for the event:\n\nWe are a group of Ren Xue/Qigong teachers from the Nelson area. We teach Yuan Gong in various locations both online and in-person. Yuan Gong is an innovative Qigong system to enhance all aspects of life: health\, happiness\, well-being and our ability to contribute to life in a way that is truly beneficial to all. It is ultimately designed to help people develop wisdom (self-realisation). Yuan Gong is a subsystem of the Ren Xue Wisdom teachings. For more information you can visit Ren Xue International’s website \nAbout the movie: \n“Any Given Moment” is the miraculous story of Norberto Rodrigues\, a young Portuguese man who turned to ancient mind-body practices in a last-ditch effort to heal a totally debilitating back injury. We see how the Ren Xue Wisdom taught by Yuan Tze (a Chinese Qigong teacher living in New Zealand) and Norberto’s practice enabled him to heal himself. But his physical healing was just the beginning. Through his dedication and perseverance\, Norberto not only healed his back injury\, but he also found himself on an unexpected journey of inner growth\, awakening to true freedom. \nWatch the trailer or book your ticket for the screening here (Koha appreciated). \nAbout the day: \n9 am Arrival & Welcome \n9.30 Movie Screening \n10.30 Q & A session \n11.45 Light Lunch \n1 pm Closing

The DeSotos music oozes genuine emotion and makes all the right moves”. \nTheir live shows are defined by the quality of the vocals and instrumentation\, and the intimate sound landscape created by these highly experienced musicians. \nTheir mix of country blues and folk-inflected songs includes many of the band’s original compositions\, and selected covers from the likes of Neil Young and Tom Petty. \nSome earlier American songbook pieces from Arlo Guthrie\, Bob Dylan and Jimmy Reed are also in the playlist. \nThe DeSotos on tour are: \nPaul Gurney (lead vocals\, guitars\, blues harp)\nStuart McIntyre (bass\, vocals)\nVic Singe (drums\, vocals) \nTimings: Doors open 4pm\, music from 4:30pm \nLocation: Outdoor event in the courtyard\, will move indoors to the Ballroom if wet \nFood & Drink: Fairfield Bar and pop up kitchen will be operating serving delicious kai for dinner and local drinks!
