SUMMARY:#OurStoryIsOne
DESCRIPTION:Please RSVP: on this Link https://forms.office.com/r/razhpyqnBF \nOn June 18th 1983\, 10 Iranian Bahá’í women were executed for refusing to renounce their faith. Their story is part of the same story of women’s struggles for gender equality in Iran today. Iranian women have now joined the same path chosen by the 10 Baháí women 40 years ago: standing up for their beliefs and principles of justice and equality at any cost\, even their lives. \nRemembering these women can illuminate and reinforce conversations around justice and gender equality in Iran. \nTogether we can honour the 10 Baha’i women of Shiraz and all women across Iran who cherish the principle of equality of women and men\, and who have contributed to the building of a better future for the country through their perseverance in the face of adversity and oppression. \n************************************ \nPlease join us in this Memorial Event to honour and support the #OurStoryIsOne global campaign. \nThe long struggle for gender equality has been lived by women of all faiths and backgrounds in Iran for many decades and continues to this day. \nThis event consists of music\, presentations and speakers. It will be followed by afternoon tea. \nMore information about the global #OurStoryIsOne campaign can be found at: \nhttps://www.ourstoryisone.bic.org/10-bahai-women-of-shiraz \nRSVP: on this Link https://forms.office.com/r/razhpyqnBF

SUMMARY:Amiria Grenell & Saint Martins
DESCRIPTION:Amiria Grenell & Saint Martins Single Release Tour – Te Waipounamu \nTickets available here! \nAmiria Grenell & Saint Martins (Monique Aiken\, Ryan Fisherman & Chris William) will be hitting the road to celebrate their newly released singles.  Spread across the weekends of early spring\, these talented musicians from Otautahi will be playing some beautiful intimate concert’s around the South Island – Te Waipounamu. \nIt’s been 8 years since Amiria released her last album Autumn & she’s looking forward to touring & celebrating the release of her first single ‘Romeo’ from her upcoming record. \nSaint Martins have been quietly working away on their own album & released their single Daily Grind in April.   They will be releasing a brand new single for this tour too. \nAMIRIA GRENELL\nWinner of a Tui NZ Music Award for her 2011 album THREE FEATHERS and a finalist for the same award for her 2015 album AUTUMN\, Amiria Grenell is an Ōtautahi folk singer and songwriter with a crystalline voice finely balancing gentle restraint and emotive strength. \nDaughter of legendary country musician John Grenell\, Amiria grew up on a farm in Whitecliffs\, Canterbury\, where her family hosted decades of music festivals in the back paddocks. \nShe has followed her heritage into a colourful and long-standing career as a touring artist and respected songwriter\, and returns in 2023 with her latest work\, beginning by releasing the romantic new single ‘Romeo’. \nSAINT MARTINS\nTime and place is a significant factor for Ōtautahi/Christchurch folk trio Saint Martins. \nA collective feeling; running along the shaky city’s south side\, diving into Banks Peninsula’s crisp waters and ending up with weekend recording sessions in the isolated township of Purau in late 2020 amongst strong songwriters that share primarily in friendship\, and secondly in unmasking one’s authentic self. \nThe project is spearheaded by Monique Aiken’s delicate songship and tempered by the collective production capabilities of Ryan Fisherman and Chris William\, inhabiting the neighbourhood where they record and write together\, shadowed by the Port Hills sublime quality. Brutally honest in their live performances\, relaxed in their intimate delivery\, demanding an attentive ear. \nSurfing a pool of influence that ranges from electronic folk into alt-pop sensible guitar noise\, Saint Martins make music for the honest\, stitching a new colour into Ōtautahi’s folk-rock thread.

SUMMARY:MARK LAURENT & BRENDA LIDDIARD
DESCRIPTION:The 33rd Anniversary Tour – For more than three decades Mark Laurent and Brenda Liddiard have been playing music together\, part of that secret army of ‘indie’ musicians who fly just below the commercial radar\, playing grass-roots\, mostly un-pluggedmusic throughout New Zealand\, Australia and the UK. \nThis Spring will see them entertaining audiences from Raglan to Invercargill on their 33 rd Anniversary Tour. \nMark Laurent plays the blues like his life depends on it! His guitar is just about as expressive as his vocals and confirms the guitar hero status that he earned several decades ago when his professional music career kicked off in the 1970s. \nHis wife and performance partner Brenda Liddiard has a voice born of true folk\, protest and alt country sentiments. Brenda has been greatly influenced by English and American acoustic music and found her niche as a songwriter during her passionate involvement with environmental and anti-nuclear issues dating from the 70s and 80s. Her album\, Box of Memories\, was a finalist in the 2013 Tui Awards for Best Folk Album. \nLaurent and Liddiard together present an eclectic mix of material that can be ‘pin drop’ delicate\, or sound like a full band! They sometimes pepper their sets with short bursts of poetry and stories of a road well traveled. \nDOOR SALES ONLY – $20 waged\, $15 unwaged \nhttp://www.marklaurent.co.nz \nhttp://www.brendaliddiard.co.nz

SUMMARY:Jon Sanders NZ Tenalach tour 2023
DESCRIPTION:NZ/Ireland based guitar bouzouki uke player Jon Sanders returns in October with a free flowing nufolk music band featuring accordion\, clarinet and singing in a show called Tenalach. \nTenalach is an old Irish term which describes a state of deep connection with the land\, water and air that allows us to hear the earth sing. The music was written over the last 4 years and inspired by this synergy as felt in west Kerry\, Ireland and in the two islands of Aotearoa. Helping to create these soundscapes will be his daughter Jenny OS who sings and heralds from west Kerry\, Hannah Wiskari Griffiths on clarinet/sax (who set up the NZ branch of the Ethno world music project) and Sophia Bidwell from Christchurch on piano accordion. Sophia is a prolific session player and music teacher in Canterbury and beyond. The compositions represent an invitation to reconnect with nature on a deeper level\, in a world increasingly controlled by technologies and their limited binary outcome. \nAlready recognised for his “ deeply meditative\, impishly playful\, quantum leaping” style\,  Jon says these soundscapes and original songs deal with the aspects of contemporary life which are clearly mirrored in the balance of natural ecosystems. “This is an invocation to spend time in the natural environment\, away from the digital machine and to connect on a deeper non- intrusive level”\,  he says. \nTickets $20 – available by clicking here or on the door. \nMore details from \njonsanders6@yahoo.com \nwww.jon-sanders.com \nSpotify – Jon Sanders \nFacebook Jon Sanders Music
