Downriver is a 6-piece folk group based in Nelson, New Zealand. Their music ranges from the heartfelt homeland balladry of 70s singer-songwriters to the existential melancholy of 90s alternative. Featuring original songs, rich vocal harmonies, and lush acoustic arrangements, Downriver offers a warm, reflective listening experience.

With releases focusing on the self, sensitivity to the world around, and ideas about our past, present, and future, there is a deep connection to be found to his music by any listener. As a self producing musician he has a signature sound, one with a mischievous personality and a tendency to subvert expectations. You’ll find yourself discovering a complex world within each song, one which seems nostalgically familiar, yet somehow alien at the same time.
