Rekindle, the Ōtautahi Christchurch-based resourceful craft organisation, is now teaching some of their workshops in Whakatū, with two tutors Gemma Stratton and Annie Mackenzie now based nearby. Rekindle teaches skills that support the wellbeing of people and planet, thinking carefully about the materials and processes that are used.
Four workshops exploring the potential of tī kōuka/cabbage tree leaves are happening at beautiful Fairfield House on Sunday 6 November, including string/rope-making, brush-making, wreaths, and hand brushes. Check them out at www.rekindle.org.nz. The folk at Rekindle are also interested to hear from other resourceful craft practitioners in the area, as well as community groups who work with people who face barriers to access and might be interested in free tuition.
